NATURALLY EFFECTIVE
4-STEP LEATHER CARE GUIDE

1. CLEAN
SADDLE SOAP
Use when your leather is dirty, stained, or starting to look dull. Before conditioning or waterproofing, you always want to start with a clean surface. Our Saddle Soap gently lifts away dirt, sweat, and grime without drying out the leather. Think of it as a reset button—it prepares the leather to absorb oils and waxes more effectively.
Use only when needed—usually every few months or when visible dirt builds up.

2. CONDITION
LEATHER SALVE
Our Leather Salve deeply nourishes and repairs dry or damaged leather. It’s rich, buttery, and packed with natural waxes and oils that sink deep into the leather to restore flexibility and strength. If your leather is vintage, heavily used, or exposed to sun and dryness, this is your go-to.
Use every few months or when leather feels dry, stiff, or is starting to crack.

3. REPLENISH
CONDITIOING LEATHER OIL
Conditioning Leather Oil is our lightweight, fast-absorbing leather conditioner — a fast-absorbing blend of high-oleic safflower oil, vitamin E, and sweet orange oil that revives dry, tired leather and brings back its natural luster.
Use at least once a month on heavily used items like boots and sofas to maintain softness, restore natural luster, or do quick upkeep.

4. PROTECT
BOOT WAX
Boot Wax creates a water-resistant barrier, helping prevent water stains, salt damage, and general wear from the outdoors. It’s especially useful for boots, bags, or jackets exposed to rain, snow, or mud.
Use as often as needed—before wet weather, hiking trips, or winter wear. Reapply when water stops beading on the surface.
FAQ
Nope — and honestly, most of the time you won't. Think of the kit like a skincare routine: some days you just wash your face and moisturize, other days you go all out. Same idea here. If your leather just needs a quick refresh, grab the Leather Oil and a cloth. Boots looking a little dry? Saddle Soap and Leather Salve will do the job. The full four-step routine — Clean, Condition, Shine, Protect — is ideal for a seasonal deep treatment or when you're restoring a piece that's been neglected for a while. But for everyday upkeep, pick the step that fits the situation and skip the rest guilt-free.
When you do run the full routine, the order matters: Saddle Soap first to clean, Leather Salve second to condition, Leather Oil third to shine, and Boot Wax last to protect and waterproof. Each step builds on the one before it — you wouldn't moisturize before washing your face, and you wouldn't seal your leather before conditioning it. That said, every product works perfectly well on its own. The Saddle Soap doesn't need the Salve behind it to do its job, and the Oil doesn't need the Soap in front of it. The four-step sequence just gives you the best possible result when the leather calls for it.
Temporarily, yes — and that's completely normal. Any time you add moisture or oil to leather, the surface will darken as it absorbs. With our products, you'll notice the most change right after applying the Leather Salve and Leather Oil. In most cases, the leather settles back to a slightly richer version of its original color within 24–72 hours as the products cure. Lighter leathers (natural veg-tan, cream, light tan) tend to show the most dramatic shift; darker browns and blacks show very little. We always recommend testing on a small, discreet area first — an inside seam, the underside of a cushion, or the back of a strap — so you know exactly what to expect before committing to the whole piece.
It depends on what you're treating and how often, but a single kit goes further than you'd expect. The Standard kit — with 2oz tins of Saddle Soap, Leather Salve, and Boot Wax plus a 5oz bottle of Leather Oil — is enough for a full treatment on 2–3 pairs of boots, a couple of bags, and a few belts with product to spare. For a leather sofa, you'll get a solid first treatment from the Standard kit but may want to grab an extra bottle of Leather Oil for larger pieces (the 16oz bottle is your friend for furniture). If you're doing seasonal maintenance on a rotation of boots and bags, one kit can easily carry you through a full year.
Safe for all colors, yes — none of our products contain dyes, and they won't strip or alter the color of properly finished leather. As for leather types, the kit works beautifully on smooth, finished leathers: full-grain, top-grain, aniline, semi-aniline, pull-up, bridle, and latigo. That covers the vast majority of leather furniture, boots, jackets, bags, car seats, and belts. Skip the kit on suede, nubuck, and roughout leathers (the texture traps wax and oil unevenly — check out our Conditioning Suede & Nubuck Cleaner instead), patent leather (sealed finish, nothing can penetrate), and faux or vegan leather (it's a synthetic surface and won't absorb the product). When in doubt, test a small hidden spot first.
Our products will last a fairly long time because our formulas are made from stable natural waxes, oils, and butters — not water-based emulsions — they don't spoil the way a lotion or cream might. Stored at room temperature and kept out of direct sunlight, the Saddle Soap, Leather Salve, and Boot Wax will stay effective for years. The Leather Oil has a similarly long shelf life, though we recommend using it within about two years of opening for peak performance (the safflower oil base can slowly oxidize over time, just like any natural oil in your kitchen). In short, you'll run out long before anything goes bad.
Absolutely — and in all likelihood you'll probably run out of the Leather Oil first. Every product in the kit is available individually on our store in multiple sizes, so you can restock exactly what you need without rebuying the whole kit. Most customers end up keeping Saddle Soap and Leather Salve on hand for periodic deep treatments, then going through Leather Oil on a regular rotation for monthly upkeep. If you've got a leather sofa or multiple pairs of boots in the mix, the 16oz Leather Oil bottle is the move — it'll last significantly longer than the 5oz that comes in the kit.
We're biased, but yes — it's one of our most popular gifts, especially around the holidays and Father's Day. The kit comes neatly packaged with everything a leather owner needs to get started, plus a step-by-step care guide so they're not guessing. It's the kind of gift that says "I noticed your boots could use some love" without actually saying that out loud. Works great for anyone with leather boots, a leather couch, a favorite bag they refuse to replace, or a car with leather seats they're quietly worried about. And since everything is all-natural and non-toxic, you don't have to worry about gifting someone a box of chemicals.
